  1. What is the Independence promotion about?

    Vodafone has launched its 50th Independence promotion that offers Vodafone's valued prepaid voice customers the opportunity to go into the draw to WIN a share of K500,000 worth of cash prizes. The major prize will see 4 lucky winners (one from each region) win K50,000 each. Additionally, there will be 10 weekly winners who will each receive K5,000 for six consecutive weeks. The promotion also includes unbeatable discounts on smartphones plus amazing instant prizes.

  2. What are the promotion dates?

    The Promotion will start on 6th August 2025 (00.00.00hrs) and end on the 17th of September 2025 (23.59.59hrs). 

  3. Who is eligible for this Promotion?

    Vodafone’s prepaid voice customers only.

  4. How does a customer qualify for this promotion?

    To qualify for this Promotion and get into the draw to win a share of K500,000 worth of cash prizes, customers need to either Top Up, subscribe to any Vodafone prepaid plan or purchase any device. 

    Note: Any new device purchased during the duration of the promotion MUST be connected to an active Vodafone SIM to be eligible to enter the weekly and major cash prize draws.

  5. What type of prizes can I win?

    Prize giveaways for the 50th Independence promotion will be awarded through the Weekly and Major cash Prize draws.

    • Weekly Draw – There will be Sixty (60) randomly selected winners who will win Cash prizes. The details of the winners with photos will be shared on Vodafone’s social media pages.

    • Four (4) Major Prize winners will be drawn on Friday 19th September 2025.

  6. How will the winner redeem the prizes?

    The draws will be done at the Vodafone Headquarters in the presence of the Police and Vodafone senior management team and the prizes distributed as follows:

  7. How will I know if I have earned a qualifying entry into the draw?
    • When you Top Up or Subscribe to a plan, you will receive a customized SMS notification to confirm your entry into the draw.
    • When you purchase any device, your number will automatically be entered into the draw.

  8. How will the prize winners be selected?

    During the promotional period, customers will be randomly selected in the Weekly and Major Prize draws. The major prize draw will take place at the Vodafone Headquarters in the presence of the Police and Vodafone senior management team.

  9. How will the winner be notified?
    • If you win, Vodafone will contact you by telephone.
    • A maximum of three (3) attempts will be made to call the Winner within a period of twenty-four (24) hours.
    • If you do not answer any of our calls, you forfeit your chance to win. We will select another eligible customer to be the Winner and repeat the process outlined above.
  10. What do I need to know about claiming the Prizes if I am a winner?
    • During the phone call, full details of the Weekly and Major Prize handover (redemption) process and locations will be confirmed.
    • You will need to present a valid Government issued photo ID (Passport, National Identification Card or Driver's License) and the phone number used to participate in the promotion.
    • In the absence of a valid identification card or related documents to verify identity, the customer will need to be accompanied by a reputable person who presents his identification card or document and verifies the customers identity (a reputable person is a respectable person of standing in the community such as a Commissioner of Oaths, a member of the disciplinary forces, a ward member, a village court magistrate or a church pastor who is a registered SIM card holder).
    • Prize can only be won/collected by the registered owner of the sim card. A redraw will be done where the mobile number and sim registration details do not match.
    • Winners MUST have an active bank account from either one of the 3 major commercial banks - BSP, Kina Bank or ANZ.
    • Customer must permit photographs to be taken for PR purposes in order to be eligible to win.
  11. Who is not included from participating in the Promotion? 
  • Postpaid Corporate & Business Account customers.
  • Any person who at any time on or after April 1st, 2022, was or is a Director, Officer, Employee, or agent of Vodafone PNG or any of their respective parent, subsidiaries, divisions, or affiliated companies, franchises or service agencies, independent contractors or suppliers of service to Vodafone PNG.
  • Vodafone PNG employees and their family members.
  • Employees and the family members of employees of any company associated with the promotion, including any provider of the Grand Prize.
  • Persons under the age of eighteen (18); and
  • Persons who do not reside in PNG 

 

 

What happens if I exhaust the daily limit in my bundle plan?

Standard rates apply. You may unsubscribe and resubscribe to avoid paying higher charges if benefits in the bundle are exhausted.

How do I opt out of the Roaming bundle?

You may opt-out by dialing *100# and select option 2 to unsubscribe.

How long is the subscription valid for?

Daily bundle plans are valid from time of subscription to midnight and expire at 12.00 am PNG time daily. Weekly bundle plans are valid from time of subscription and expire at 12:00am PNG time on the 7th day post initial subscription. 

How are minutes deducted and charged from the bundle?

For, calls charging is on per minute or part thereof basis. are charged and deducted on per minute or part thereof basis. 

Broadband Data Plan Usage Charging Priority

Data usage is charged per byte.

Charging Priority: Data balance (whichever balance that has the shortest expiry will be deducted first).

15. How can I setup my handset for Mobile Internet?

Go to Settings, Search for Mobile Data (or Cellular Data) and activate the connection. For smartphones, the user may swipe down from the notification bar and Select the Mobile Data icon. Two arrow icons will appear in the notification bar to indicate that the connection has been made.

Android: Go to Settings > Connections > Data Usage > Mobile Data (Swipe the icon to the right to turn ON, swipe left to turn OFF)

iPhone: Go to Settings > Mobile Data > Mobile Data (Swipe the icon to the right to turn ON, swipe left to turn OFF)

Mobile internet services can either be charged from a Mobile Data Plan or Real Credit balance.

To stop using mobile internet, deactivate the Mobile Data connection.

What happens when I travel between countries covered by the Roaming bundle plan (e.g., Australia to Turkey)?

The benefits in the Roaming bundle plan gets carried forward to the other country and is valid until the allocated timeframe as per initial subscription.

What happens when I travel from a country included in the Roaming bundle plan to one that isn't (e.g., Australia to Fiji)?

The roaming bundle deactivates, and standard rates apply in countries not included in the bundle.

When will I start getting charged for Data Roaming?

Charges begin as soon as you connect to a partner network with mobile data on. For initial subscription, it is recommended to switch off data (but have Voice and SMS on), subscribe to a Roaming bundle plan and upon getting confirmation, switch on data. Note that there will always be some standard charges, as this is required during the bundle plan selection process. Many applications run in background and use data, so always take precautions to avoid bill shock. Notifications will be sent as bundle data nears its limit. You may unsubscribe and resubscribe if any of the benefits in the bundle is exhausted. This is a cost-effective option when compared to using standard/out of bundle rates. 

Do I need to unsubscribe to the bundle plan when I return to PNG/Home country?

No, the system will automatically unsubscribe your Roaming plan and you will get an SMS for confirmation.

Do plans auto-renew daily?

Daily bundle plans auto-renew at 12.00 am PNG time. Weekly plans auto renew at 12.00am PNG time on the 7th day post initial subscription. If you wish to unsubscribe, you may do so manually by dialing *100# and selecting option to unsubscribe. 

What are the rate charges if not subscribed to a bundle or if bundle is exhausted?

Standard/outside bundle rates apply. Outside Bundle Rates/Pay as you go/Standard Rate to add PNG rates and Zones

Which customers are eligible for the bundle plans?

Roaming bundle is applicable to all Prepaid and Postpaid customers.

How can I subscribe to the Roaming bundle?

When you arrive abroad at your destination, switch on your phone. Let it connect to a partner network. Then dial *100# and select from the options to subscribe to a daily or weekly bundle plan. Check bundle availability in (3.0) of this guide.

How does Roaming work?

Connect to a partner network abroad, either automatically or manually (see 2.0). Access Voice, SMS, and Data roaming services on a pay-as-you-go (PAYG) basis (where standard rates apply) or subscribe to one of Vodafone’s Roaming bundle plans (Daily or Weekly Roaming bundle plan via dialing *100#). 

What services are available on Roaming?

Data, Voice and SMS service are available on Roaming. Ensure to inform your Account Manager if you require specific Roaming services (for example, Voice Only or Voice & Data)

How do I get Roaming Access on my Device?

For Prepaid customers the service is activated by default. For Postpaid customers, you must have proper approval from your company/authorized approver to enable Roaming services prior to your travel. You can activate Roaming services by contacting your Account Manager 2-3 days prior to travelling. If unreachable, you may contact Postpaid Customer Care on 124 for Roaming activation.
